Summer Portfolio Preparation Program

OVERVIEW

Residential and Commuter

Portfolio Preparation is intended for high school juniors, seniors and recent graduates who are preparing for a college level art program. The Portfolio Preparation program is designed for the independent young students to strengthen their portfolios while introducing them to career choices in the visual arts.

Students will participate in Studio Art classes that include: Drawing, Painting, Illustration, Photography, Scupture, Design, Print Media, Film and Video, Animation, and Art History taught by ACC BFA and CE faculty. The course includes studio tours, gallery visits and workplace exposure. The course culminates in a final review with the AAC admissions team.

FACULTY AND STAFF

The program's faculty have a commitment to building AACs ongoing role as a provider of quality education in visual arts. The Program is run by the Community Education. Residential Assistants (RAs) are a service to the Portfolio Preparation Program. Students spend their evenings supervised by the RAs. They provide the students the opportunity to share their firsthand campus experiences and help make important social connections in the art community creating a transformative, enjoyable, and most of all, safe experience.

Program Dates and Times for 2014

Section 1
June 7 | Move-in day for residential students
June 9 – 27 | Class
June 28 Move-out day for residential students

Section 2
July 5 | Move-in day for residential students
July 7 – 25 | Class
July 26 | Move-out day for residential students

Classes are held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, with some lectures and field trips in the evening.

Program Costs
Commuter: $625 / Residential: $1,100

Deposit due at time of registration: $100 for commuter students, $275 for residential students. Balance due by the first day of class.  

Parking pass available: $75

Accommodations & Meals
Students can chose either a commuter or residential option. Residential students will stay in AAC’s comfortable loft-style rooms with the latest modern amenities for student living, located immediately across the street for the main campus building on Jackson Street. The residence halls are monitored 24 hours and staffed by RA’s. The main campus provides 24-hr access for students to labs and instructional areas. Each student will be given studio space to complete homework assignments.

Residential students should plan to bring funds for their meal expenses, such as grocery shopping or dining out.
