It’s That Time Again: 28th Biennial Sculpture Exhibition

April 8, 2015

Since 1959, the Art Academy of Cincinnati has been exhibiting sculptures at the Civic Garden Center of Greater Cincinnati. What once started as stone carved sculptures shown on the patio of the Garden Center has now become site-specific installations found throughout the grounds including the Hauck Botanic Garden.

This years 28th Biennial Sculpture Exhibition features works from current students, faculty member and alumni of the Art Academy of Cincinnati. The exhibition has been organized to encourage sculptors to produce work for outdoor spaces and to acquaint the public with the potential for sculpture in gardens and landscaping. While the loosely thematic emphasis for the show —nature, the environment or garden art—unifies the exhibition it also embraces diversity of forms and ideas among the participating artists.  The sculptures in the exhibition are produced in a range of media – from wood, plastics, wire, metals, building materials and mixed media constructions, to temporary impermanent materials, as well as many recycled and re-purposed materials.
