Recently six Art Academy students were paired with six Master Artists to create a permanent outdoor exhibition designed to bring beauty, love and comfort to the families and children of the Greater Cincinnati’s Ronald McDonald House.
The Heart Fence Project is an outdoor installation inspired by the Ronald McDonald House’s heart-shaped logo. Artists were asked to reflect on themes of love, hope, family, home and health while composing their works of art—topics that are rooted in the culture of the Ronald McDonald House. These dynamic works of art were installed this past summer to the interior fence, surrounding the playground, thereby encircling critically ill children and their families with these powerful, uplifting messages.
This project celebrates the long-standing tradition of apprentices from the Art Academy working with professional artists to create a public work of art. It also engages several different partners working together to produce this unique and colorful playground for the children and families living at Ronald McDonald House.
We would like to thank our primary partner Kip Eagan—local curator and public art enthusiast for this opportunity, ArtsWave for the grant making it possible and the great people of the Ronald McDonald House.
