Our trans-disciplinary curriculum is designed to prepare you for a future at the forefront of contemporary illustration.

ILLUSTRATORS RE-IMAGINE OUR WORLD

Illustrators are excited by the surprising unpredictability of contemporary imagery in our media-driven world. Learn the language of visual communication while engaging in relentless experimentation. Students encounter a range of challenges in areas that integrate animation, drawing, new media, printmaking, photography, painting, design, sound art, motion graphics, digital sculpture, and installation.

Through professional and personal experiences, you will be able to create a personal body of work that reflects your individual vision.

AS AN ILLUSTRATOR YOU WILL:

Create Illustrations that utilize combinations of foundational skills in design, type, color, and value
Refine observational drawing and painting skills
Create skillsets using various combinations of analog and digital media
Identify effective and ineffective compositional tools to communicate when making an image
Model the individual and collaborative studio work environment students will encounter post-graduation
Work on client-driven projects that mirror the ever-changing industry of illustration
Discuss how one’s own work and the work of peers meet the criteria of the assignments
Gain a working knowledge of contemporary illustrators and their work
Create work that is informed about current illustration industry norms

Many Art Academy illustration graduates have pursued careers as gaming designers, in house and corporate illustrators, photographers, and fulltime analog and digital designers. Graduates also thrive in entrepreneurial and freelance enterprises.

Wacom Cintiq pads, surface Pros, Drawing tablets, and other digital drawing tools are able to be checked out to students
Three Computer Labs complete with color printers and flatbed scanners
Full Adobe Creative Suite for all students
Light tables and projectors
Collaborative working spaces, and HD monitors in every classroom
